Video: How Medicare rebates work

In this video Dr Phoebe briefly takes you through how to get a Mental Health Care Plan, Medicare rebates, and the mental health care system.

* Please note that clients are responsible for doing their own research and to discuss their individual circumstances with their health care providers.

Telehealth consultations provide the same high level of care and support by our Clinical Psychologist but via a live video-conferencing platform. This allows you to see, hear and speak with your Psychologist in real time from the comfort of your home (anywhere in Australia).

The Inner Collective only uses Coviu, an encrypted video conferencing software made for health practitioners. For security reasons, other common video call software cannot be used.

Medicare (under COVID-19 MBS items)

Video sessions attract the same fee as in-person sessions. However, please inform us of individual circumstances, especially if you have been stood down due to COVID-19. As of 9 October 2020, all Australians are able to access an additional 10 MHCP sessions per year (20 sessions) until June 2022.

Clinical Psychologists: Sessions are 50 minutes long at $206.35. This is competitive compared to recommended rates. With a Medicare rebate ($129.55 under a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP), there is an out-of-pocket investment of $76.80 per session.

Psychologists (Clinical Psychology Registrars):  Sessions are 50 minutes long at $165. This is competitive compared to recommended rates. With a Medicare rebate ($88.25 under a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP), there is an out-of-pocket investment of $76.75 per session.

Our standard fee is more affordable than the recommended fee for psychological services.

Private Sessions

You are welcome to access video sessions without a Mental Health Care Plan or private health insurance. This will mean that the entire session fee  will be out-of-pocket. Some private health companies and levels of cover also provide a rebate for psychological services. Check with your provider whether rebates cover telehealth services (telephone and video sessions).
